@AltoAtacama, where we're staying, has its own observatory high up on a hill complete with a telescope, beds to lay on and a very flat paved area perfect for photographers and their tripods. It's far removed from the lights of the hotel and it affords, on a clear night like tonight, incredible views of the Milky Way. I captured this photo with my NX1 and looking at it now I can't quite see it, but I was pointed directly towards what the Atacameños believed was a Llama in the sky. Though it's not an officially recognized constellation, our guide did point it out and it was fun to see. We also saw the Southern Cross, several planets and 3 shooting stars. I don't even know how long it has been since the last time I saw stars like this but it was certainly longer than I can remem...
