The Prince of Wales doffs his hat to a waving and cheering multitude in front of the hotel, September 14, 1919. The heir to the throne stayed at the Palliser on September 14–15, 1919. The prince attended a citizens’ luncheon in the Crystal Ballroom where he was entertained by “the most prominent musicians and singers of the city.” He stayed again at the Palliser on more than one occasion. Following his 1919 visit, Edward purchased the Beddingfeld Ranch (which he renamed the EP Ranch) at nearby Pekisko, Alberta. He later reigned briefly in 1936 as King Edward VIII and then lived out his life as the Duke of Windsor. ***Join us as we embark on the final phase of our historical photography exhibition.
