Chicago Marathon Race Recap, Part 6:
I felt like I was pushing myself well within the limits of what was appropriate at that point, but I kept seeing mgcentro and sainabetsy pulling further and further away. I was getting a little frustrated.
Right around mile 8 of every marathon I tend to have this feeling.
Mile 8. You have ran a lot of miles already. Fatigue is creeping in. Things should feel easy, yet somehow they don’t.
You’re not even remotely close to being done. Honestly, you’re not even that close to being halfway.
It’s a daunting feeling.
The one saving grace of mile 8 is that there are still plenty of other people around. It is an opportunity to turn your brain off and just try to either: stick with people around you, or try and catch the next person ahead of you.
