🎉 Honoring a Memphis Legend 🎉 Today, we celebrated a historic moment as Glenn Rogers, Sr. became the first Black football player at Memphis State (now the University of Memphis) to have a street named in his honor! Located on Hollywood Street, between Southern and Union avenues, Glenn Rogers, Sr. Street stands as a tribute to his courage and legacy. University of Memphis and City of Memphis officials, including UofM President Bill Hardgrave, Mayor Paul Young, and Councilman Chase Carlisle, joined together to recognize Rogers’ monumental impact. This renaming marks the first time in recent history that the City has dedicated a street to a living individual. “Glenn Rogers, Sr. changed Memphis and Memphis Tigers Football for the better,” said Mayor Young.
