Cempasúchil (aka Marigold) season is here! 🧡
Originally from Mexico, its name originates from the Nahuatl word “Cempohualxochit!” which means flower with 20 petals. In pre-Hispanic times, the Mexica used it in altars, offerings and burials dedicated to their dead. On Día de Muertos, tradition calls for making paths with marigold petals from the main entrance to the altar of the house in order to guide the spirits there. 🧡
