How do we track massive bird migrations?
Through BirdCast, a project by the cornellbirds that uses weather surveillance radar to monitor millions of birds during their seasonal journeys.
The radar can distinguish birds from weather, bats, and insects by analyzing unique flight patterns and speeds, providing data on how many birds are at risk of glass collisions. The radar detects migration intensity and helps identify peak movement times.
