Little teaching moment here for young goaltenders: with an emphasis on steering pucks, too many goaltenders get overactive with their hands and inadvertently put pucks out into dangerous spots. If you notice,Gustavsson‘s blocker hand comes back in on his body and rotates back. This, in turn, brings his stick flat against his pad. He also slightly rotates his hip back. This leaves the puck right out front, with Gustavsson opened up and off balance and allows for an easy tap in by Sean Couturier. Goalies, remember that your weight controls the shot. Keep your elbows relaxed and at your side while keeping your hands out in front of your body. A simple shift into the shot and slight turn into the shot will allow your stick to be off your pad and slightly angled so you may direct the puck to the corner and have it elevated at the same time.
