The US women’s national soccer team incredibly good. Like, World Cup good. In fact, they’ve won four titles and is the most successful women’s national team in the history of the Women’s World Cup. So why they getting paid less than the men’s team, when they’ve never even been to the World Cup? The US women’s national soccer team is suing for equal pay, but it’s not as cut and dry as it seems. The women’s soccer team is paid less because they have less fans, and ultimately the pay is based on the number of fans watching and people attending games. If there are more viewers, the league can charge advertisers more, and charge more for tickets. Even though the US men’s team is not good, it still has almost four times the viewership that the women’s team has. Therefore, the men’s team league has more money to dish out.
