An easy way to help a goaltender develop their ability to read the game is to add an air of unpredictability to the drill and give the shooters some freedom to do what they want. Today, working with mentor client aidan_wr36 , we added a second layer of unpredictability to the drill. The first part of the drill is a pass to the wing, where Aiden is to beat the pass on his feet and get a read of the shot and execute a timely save. After shooting the puck, player one has to tag up behind the net. Player two then releases and makes a play decision based on where player one goes. In doing this, Aiden is given the opportunity to work on these specific skills: • shoulder checks/scans • depth management • scanning ahead off the pass to read the developing play excellent day of work for Aidan, who is seeing some significant development in his game early in the season. #phcgoalies #mentorprogram #bosakgoaltending phcmidget philadelphiahockeyclub bosak_goaltending
