On October 29, 2024, the Ventura Elks Lodge #1430 hosted their annual “First Responders Appreciation Dinner” to recognize and honor Deputies of the year from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s Headquarters, Fillmore and Ojai patrol stations. The Elks Lodge also honored the Officer and Firefighters of the year from the Ventura Police Department, Santa Paula Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Ventura City Fire Department, Ventura County Fire Department, and the Fillmore Fire Department. The Headquarters Station selected Senior Deputy Jeff Collins (and his K-9 partner Andy), the Fillmore Station selected Eduardo Jimenez, and the Ojai Police Department selected Deputy Christian Lasecla as their Deputies of the year. Each honoree attended the ceremony with their loved ones.
