Double, double, toil and trouble! 🎃 ⁣ ⁣ Maybe it’s just because Halloween is getting near, but some claim to see a sinister witch in this image, shared in 2015 by our Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). ⁣ ⁣ Astronomers assert that the billowy clouds of the Witch Head Nebula, where baby stars are brewing, are merely being lit up by massive stars. When dust in those clouds is hit with starlight, the infrared glow can be picked up by missions like WISE and transformed into spine-tingling images like these. ⁣ ⁣ Image description: A green trail of gas extends down and to the right across a background of glowing blue stars. The middle of the nebula is shaped in such a way that it appears to have a long nose and prominent chin, which could be said to resemble a witch. ⁣ ⁣ Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech ⁣ ⁣ #NASA #Space #Halloween #WitchHeadNebula #Astronomy #Stars
