A wet October has ended Oregon’s fire season, which burned over 1.9 million acres across the state in 2024, officials said Monday.
That is the most acreage burned in the last 30 years or so, according to Jessica Neujahr, a spokesperson for the Oregon Department of Forestry.
The next biggest season was in 2012, when 1.2 million acres burned in Oregon.
Another issue this year was an early peak in the season, Neujahr said.
