The Auburn-Vanderbilt matchup is one of the more unique ones in SEC history. Although both founding members of the SEC, Auburn and Vanderbilt have only faced each other 43 times. The two met for the first time in 1893 (a 30-10 Auburn win) and faced off 19 times before the SEC was formed. Almost half of the games pitting these two teams came when both schools were members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association and Southern Conference. Saturday's game will mark just the 11th meeting since the SEC moved to divisions in 1992. This series has seen just about everything uniform-wise for both teams in the few meetings over the years. Vanderbilt has sported black, gold, and white helmet shells, jerseys, and pants. Meanwhile, Auburn has worn the navy, white, and orange jerseys dating back to 1934.
