A major change in WRC technical regulations is about to happen from 2025!! High development costs and lack of competition have been troubling the World Rally Championship. In the last 5 years, we lost Volkswagen (possibly due to other reasons) and Citroën due to increased performance and complexity of the Rally1 cars. It is estimated that a Rally1 car costs about $1,000,000 without the development costs. However, it was announced that FIA is changing the technical regulations of the Rally1 cars. Mainly, the hybrid system will no longer be used, and the engine output is going to be reduced with smaller intake diameter. The aero will be simplified, and the tubular space frame chassis will no longer be allowed. The cars will also have to be available for purchase by privateers. The cost cap for the cars will be set at €400,000, which is less than half of what the current Rally1 hybrids supposedly cost.
