This is where Toyota’s Le Mans journey began. Powered by a 3.6L twin turbo V8, this car was a true monster, setting lap times faster than the higher class cars. First introduced in 1998, this was the time when Group GT-1 was replacing the Le Mans Prototypes. In 1999, this car won the 24h of Le Mans in its class, piloted by none other than Keiichi Tsuchiya. The car was short-lived, and Toyota would not return to Le Mans until 2012 with the TS030 Hybrid.
