F1 tech that’s made it into road cars, part 3: Believe it or not, the buttons you’re using to change the radio station and the volume in your car come from F1 tech. First introduced in the ’70s and gaining traction in the ’80s and 90’s, steering wheel buttons made it much easier for drivers to make changes at 300km/h. Modern road cars use them for things like volume or to set cruise control, but performance road cars like the new Porsche 911 GT3RS have buttons and dials ripped out of a race car to maximize performance… from your home to the grocery store.
