Next week, in another special episode of the Team Deakins Podcast, we are rejoined by our friend and newly-minted director Rodrigo Prieto (Season 1, Episode 112) to discuss his directorial debut, PEDRO PÁRAMO. Adapted from one of Mexico’s seminal novels, the film follows Juan Preciado, a young man on a surreal journey in which the violent legacy of his absent father haunts the ghost town of Comala. The focus of our conversation with Rodrigo centers around his transition from working as a cinematographer to directing, and he discusses how he balanced his many new responsibilities through prep, production, and post working off a retooled script he first read 15 years ago.
PEDRO PÁRAMO will be available worldwide on Netflix next week.
