The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lancaster Station honored fallen Sgt. Steve Owen yesterday on the 5 year memorial of his death (EOW 10/5/2016). Sgt. Owen was killed on duty, fatally shot and killed while responding to a burglary call in Lancaster. He was awarded the department’s highest honor, the medal of valor, for saving a hostage that was being held at gunpoint in a car, and was a part of the mounted unit. Serving for department for 29 years, his last few years were spent at the Lancaster station.
