I’ll never forget the time my daughter told me she wanted to apply to UPenn. She was so determined, but then her counselor called it a “significant reach” and suggested she apply to our alma mater, Southern University, instead. I told that counselor: my daughter can do anything she sets her mind to. She’s overcome so much, and I believe in her 1000%. I’ve been a “significant reach” my whole life, and I know the power of someone believing in you, pushing you to your limits. So we applied.
