at about mile 16 I had cramps that I figured was gonna be the end of the journey for me but at every mile there were perfect strangers just cheering and phone calls and texts from friends. it was the most magical day by a million measures it’s hard to believe this same country will enter an election tomorrow because for one brief 26.2 mile stretch we felt as if we were one big heart. I am no Olympic athlete. I’m bummed in some ways it took me so long. But I’m also so proud of the journey and that’s the point. When twloha said they had slots to run the nycmarathon and raise money for them it was an immediate response from me. but then “reality” made me feel like I was crazy. I got to remember to trust those small gut moments. yesterday was magic. magic. magic. thank you.
