Back when I was a little girl I’d wake up on a Saturday morning to my mom making tamales y picado to sell, and my dad blasting marimba in our cute little trailer. Guatemalan flags on every corner of the house, pictures of my relatives on our bright yellow walls. Though I never got to meet most of my grandparents and the time I spent with them was very limited I live through the stories my parents tell. Reminding me how important story telling is in the culture. Embracing being Guatemalan in honor of my ancestors.
