#OTD in 1919, astronomer Sir Arthur Eddington completed the first successful experiment of Einstein's general theory of relativity during a total solar eclipse. The solar eclipse blocked out the sun's light, allowing Eddington to observe the path of light from a distant star. He saw the light bend due to the sun's gravity, confirming @alberteinstein's theory.
