This photo shows a #lenticular #cloud formation over #Antarctica's Lemaire Channel. Lenticular clouds, which often resemble #spaceships, form when #air moves quickly over a #mountain that protrudes at about a right angle to the #wind direction. This movement gives rise to a type of #wave much like the ripples that emanate from the point at which a #rock is thrown into water.
