On April 22, 2015 the Calbuco #volcano in Chile #erupted, spewing 7,420 million cubic feet (210 million cubic meters) of #ash and pumice into the atmosphere. This was the volcano’s first eruption in 42 years. The eruption also released sulfur dioxide, a #gas that can affect #climate by creating sunlight-reflecting sulfate aerosols that cool the #atmosphere.
