Hoping to close out the match, the Knights brought their A game intent on clinching the bi-district title. Early in the set, sophomore Sienna Martens made consecutive blocks and tips giving McCallum the lead. Fouls and excessive touches by the Hawks extended McCallum’s early advantage. Powerful hits from the Hawks outside hitters as well as tips the knights didn’t see coming, however, kept the Hawks in the game. After a rally that shook the entire gym, with unbelievable digs and hits on both sides that sent the crowd into a manic episode, Cooks was able to dig a ball from the stands and pass it to junior Lexi Rosenblatt. Rosenblatt then played the ball to Carlson who stuck the ball to the hands of the Hawks blockers. While they tried, the Hawks were unable to keep the blocked ball in the court, resulting in a Knight point. Blocks from both teams left fans cascading the court in an uproar of pride.
