Because of carbon dioxide buildup in spacecrafts (and a lack of a good way to extract it from the air), astronauts tend to suffer from headaches far more often than us down here on earth. This conundrum inspired UBS Global Visionary and innovator Christoph Gebald to develop a way to permanently remove 10-15 billion tons of carbon from earth’s atmosphere using “direct air capture”.
