There are all types of ecosystems out there. Investing ecosystems are where we strive, while our avian allies deserve a song of praise for their “ecosystem services”. Birds produce so many benefits for the planet that ecologists and conservationists have started to quantify the value of the birds’ work (in dollars!)? They keep busy producing fertilizer and spreading spores, to keeping insect pests in check and helping us find honey.
