The changing seasons, the dearly departed and the “thin veil between the living and the dead” were all honored Saturday during the fourth annual Portland All Souls Procession. The free event began at Green Anchors with pageantry, dancing and puppets. Co-organizer Moni Sears served as “the storyteller,” who wove together stories about “the ancestors,” a water dragon, and the Bone Mother while participants danced, sang and carried puppets representing each of the figures. Attendees, many wearing their own handmade costumes, were invited to add photos and names to a community altar honoring the dead.
