✨🗝️ We are thrilled and extremely grateful to announce that the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum is the recipient of a Florida Humanities Community Project Grant!
Since 1973, Florida Humanities has been the statewide, nonprofit partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), firmly committed to sharing Florida’s stories by promoting a better understanding of the state’s history, heritage, cultures and literature.
This grant will enable our team to host a speaker series titled “In the Shadow of the Tower.”
This series celebrates 150 years of St. Augustine Lighthouse history! Sessions topics will cover World War II and St. Augustine, the discovery of Fort Mose, launching Florida’s tourism industry, St. Augustine Civil Rights Movement and the making of St. Augustine’s artist community.
Presentations will be provided by accomplished subject matter experts and offer participants a better understanding of the interplay of historical events relating to the history...
