Houston Dynamo officially announced that they declined the 2025 contract option for captain and DP Héctor Herrera. Herrera’s last moment with the team was him spitting at the referee and getting sent off in the playoff game against Seattle Sounders. Houston would then go on to lose in the penalty shootout.
