GRIZZLIES EDGE LIONS IN FIRST ROUND: The jserra.girlstennis team had its' season come to a close on Thursday, as the Lions were defeated by the Los Osos Grizzlies 11-7 in a CIF-SS Division 1 first round match at Los Osos High in Rancho Cucamonga. The Lions and Grizzlies were tied 3-3 after the first round of matches, as junior Scarlett Vukich (6-3) and freshman Brookelyn Garcia (6-1) posted singles wins, and the duo of sophomore Naomi Clarke and freshman Isabella Geffre (6-3) teamed for a doubles triumph. Vukich (6-2) and the team of Clarke and Geffre (6-0) were set winners in the second round, but the Grizzlies claimed four set wins in the round to go up 7-5. Garcia (6-1) posted her second singles set victory and the duo of junior Ellie Gregor-Orr and freshman Julianna Johnson (6-2) posted a doubles win in the third round, but the Grizzlies once again captured four of the six sets to seal the match triumph and advance.
