Depending on where you live, you may have gotten your first snowfall this week (!!!) or have decided as the holidays are quickly approaching it’s time to hang up your hiking boots until summer. But, not so fast. If you want to experience the sheer beauty of our country’s national parks–sans crowds and reservations–winter is the best time to go. Not only is there a chance that you’ll have the trails entirely to yourself but you’ll also get to experience the parks in a completely different element. Witness some of the country’s most striking winter landscapes and snow-dusted peaks, try a new activity like snowshoeing or cross-country skiing across the frozen lakes, and if you’re lucky, catch a glimpse of the northern lights.
We could all use some isolated time in nature after this week, so tap the link in bio for our guide to the national parks that are their absolute best in the winter and send this to someone who could use a dose of fresh air.
