This year marks the 50th anniversary of the discovery of Lucy – the oldest known fossil of the first human ancestor to walk on two feet. Her discovery was a major anthropological find marking a significant turning point in human evolution.
ASU’s Institute of Human Origins continues its research at the field sites near where Lucy was discovered where new finds are still being made, creating experiential learning opportunities for a new generation of paleoanthropologists and geologists, including students from ASU and Ethiopia.
