Introducing The Minus Times: Bavarian Style Doppelbock, the latest in our series of explorative lagers. Dating back to the Middle Ages, the Doppelbock is a style with a rich history. Known for being a stronger, darker iteration on the Bock, our take doesn’t stray far from the traditional qualities found in the Monastic Bavarian lagers of yesteryear. In terms of ingredients, the key element in this style is the malt, which contributes largely to the flavor profile of our Dopplebock. We utilized a Munich malt base and accompanying specialty grains, yielding a rich and malt forward palate devoid of overly sweet characteristics. Notes of black coffee can be found up front along with baker’s chocolate, interwoven with a subtle hint of plum. Finishing at 7.8% abv, this release of The Minus Times was brewed in the spirit of the changing season, as Doppelbocks are typically brewed in the winter months.
