Introducing The Minus Times: Dortmunder Export Style Lager.
In January we unveiled our new lager series featuring beers brought to life via past inspirations and shared experiences. Our second in the series takes things up a notch with a traditional German Style of lager.
This style originated in the city of Dortmund, and was brewed there centuries ago for people working long hours in the coal mines and other industrial occupations. Brewed as early as 1868, it came in to being as a refreshing beer after a hard day of work- but strong enough to satisfy a hearty appetite. We find this to be a perfect Lager for late winter and early spring. It has the structure to confront chilling March nights while posing a beautiful balance between the German malt and Hallertau Hersbrucker hops featured in the beer. We find notes of fresh bread and biscuits, herbal, floral and spicy. A very subtle caramel/toffee flavor comes through as well.
