🇺🇸 THANK YOU, VETERANS 🇺🇸 Cardell Daniels (pictured top left) was the St. Augustine Lighthouse Keeper from 1935-1943. Having served as head Keeper during World War II, Cardell faced a unique decision many of his predecessors hadn’t, remain a civilian or join the service. As such, Daniels joined the United States Coast Guard, allowing his continued duty as Lighthouse Keeper. Given a military uniform and an official title, the Coast Guard tasked Daniels and other service members with patrolling the coast of St. Augustine, Florida, to keep an eye out for German U-Boats. Cardell Daniels did so faithfully, serving his country with tremendous courage and reverence. This Veterans Day, you can contribute to the men and women who have and continue to serve their country through our honor veterans campaign. WWII Veterans pass away each day, and their stories are forgotten. We must save their stories before they are lost forever. For every gift received, we add the name of your favorite ...
