Here we have our “Wall Drill” Series.
The purpose of the wall drill is to teach athletes how to create stability and tension to produce maximal force in any movement pattern.
The origin of this exercise comes from the background of isometric training.
“Overcoming isometric contraction“ occurs when force is developed by an individual to overcome an external force, thus being the “wall”.
When cueing athletes through these movements, be mindful of :
• a natural forward lean of the body
• a neutral spine alignment, with stiff core
• active flexion on the “up” leg
• active extension on the “down” leg
These drills can be utilized as correctives/activation going into a speed+agility session.
