I have been struggling with this for years. I didn’t know post travel depression was real, meaning that I also wasn’t prepared. And this last for years. Even though I’d go on trips every so often, I would forget about the sadness but every time I came back home, the feeling just neverrr went away. Last week, I went to go visit my boyfriend and 2 days within the trip, one of his family members had passed away. As a death tradition, the community comes together and mourns for 9 days straight. So we, his family, and community mourned and grieved for 9 days — together. It was a hard week for his family, but I knew that He was with us. Coming back home felt like I closed this chapter in my life, and that better days are coming — fast. I don’t have the right words to fully describe what this feeling is, but it’s liberating.
