Sea level rise, accelerated by climate change which is brought on by burning of fossil fuels, threatens to overtake California’s coastal communities. Restoring plants and reviving the intertidal systems that historically existed along the shore offers one solution at buffering the state against a higher sea.
The Bay Foundation, in partnership with the City of Santa Monica, is working to adapt three acres of Santa Monica Beach back to its natural state, sand dunes that will help soften the line between land and sea.
