Green hydrogen fuel is being championed as a ticket to decarbonization by gas companies and the federal government, with California having received $1.2 billion to develop itself as a “hydrogen hub”, to help harder-to-electricity industries, like shipping and long-haul trucking, wean themselves off of fossil fuels. On a local level, LADWP is working to convert L.A.’s local gas plants with the fuel.
