Today in Hip-Hop — Jay-Z released his eighth studio album, ‘The Black Album.’ In 2003, Jay-Z began his album rollout promotion with an announcement that his next album would be his final one. With ‘The Black Album’ being advertised as a “retirement” project, the anticipation was higher than usual. In the theme of a grand farewell, Jay-Z chose to document the entire behind-the-scenes process of the album’s creation—as well as footage of what was promoted as his final tour—for the ‘Fade to Black’ film. The film shows the varying processes of featured producers like Kanye West, Timbaland, Just Blaze, The Neptunes, and more creating tracks like “Lucifer,” “Dirt Off Your Shoulders,” and “Public Service Announcement.” ‘The Black Album’ was released on November 14, 2003 and debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also became Jay-Z’s highest selling album and was certified quadruple platinum. Which track is your favorite? - 📹: ‘Fade to Black’ film | Just Blaze Details The Making O...
