Carolina scored 62 points in the second half to roll past visiting American at the Dean Smith Center on Friday night. The Tar Heels led 43-34 at the half and, ultimately, won by the score of 107-55.
Five different Tar Heels scored in double figures, with Jalen Washington and Elliot Cadeau tying for the team lead with 18 points. For Washington, his 18 points were a career high. R.J. Davis and Seth Trimble each added 13, and Cade Tyson scored 11 off the bench. Cadeau logged an efficient offensive night, shooting 6-9 from the floor while adding eight assists, four steals, three rebounds and just one turnover.
The Tar Heels didn’t make a single three in the entire first half, but the story changed quickly in the second half.
