listen… I am not an Olympic athlete. I’m an “always fat kid” who’s learning to love my body as it is at 37. my mom ran the NYC marathon in 1993, and I always wanted to do it. This year, I got the chance to raise money for mental health and run hundreds of miles FOR THE FIRST TIME. I can’t believe how much I loved training—until a major cold knocked me out in the final month. my time isn’t record-breaking, but if anyone out there is considering training for a marathon, do it. This experience has been the best display of humanity I’ve ever seen, just two days before the election. Around mile 16, I hit a wall. Cramping like I hadn’t experienced before, but I kept moving. The long wait from 5am until the start probably didn’t help, but seeing regular people support each other to the finish line was unforgettable. In the last stretch, my mom jumped in, cheering me on like a scene from a movie. I’m so grateful to have shared this with her. Looking forward to keeping up with this communit...
