This week we’re focusing on ‘Head Rush’ by channeltres. 💿🔂 Since 2018, the Compton native has been giving us a glimpse of his world with the release of several singles and EPs. In June, Channel Tres finally delivered his official debut. On ‘Head Rush,’ Channel Tres showcases the full range of his sound and abilities—he sings, raps, produces, dances, DJs. Tracks like “Joyful Noise” draw inspiration from gospel, while others like “Holy Holy” lean more towards deeper 808s. However, the common thread that weaves throughout the entire album to pull everything together is house music. There’s no denying the strong influence of house on ‘Head Rush,’ and Channel Tres’ catalog as a whole. The house connection has felt even stronger in the last few months as he was featured on kaytranada’s ‘Timeless’ album—as well as the opening act for Kaytranada’s Timeless Tour. ...
