PHill the water buffalo may have had a chaotic few months this year, but his 2025 is shaping up to be as peaceful as ever. PHill is named for Pleasant Hill, the Des Moines suburb he roamed after he got loose from his owner who was trying to slaughter him Aug. 24. Following his escape, an officer tried to prevent the young bull from endangering people and traffic and wounded him with a shotgun blast. A days-long search ended with PHill's capture and relocation to his current roaming grounds at the iowafarmsanctuary near Iowa City.
