Many youth runners are new to running or have been running for a little bit. I’ve been running since I was 7 and I’ve seen a lot of different things over the years. Now that I’m older, I want to provide insight I wish I had when I was younger. Here’s some of the BIGGEST mistakes I see in youth runners:
1️⃣: Running too HARD on easy days: Unlike some other sports where training hard 24/7 is routine, getting good at running involves a lot of easy mileage days. Running SLOW on these days will help you accumulate volume while prepare you to run hard on workout days🔥 if you run hard on an easy day you’re more likely to be burnt out or not improve as much from hard days.
2️⃣: Giving up too QUICKLY: Many kids are just as tired as you in races. Most of them will not compete if you challenge them. If you see a kid with his head down in front of you, he probably won’t race you if you pass him. Go compete 🥇
3️⃣: Not warming up ENOUGH: Many kids jog for a lap or maybe 5 minutes to warmup. Yo...
