According to apnews, Spirit cited a struggle to recover after the pandemic and a failed attempt to sell the airline to
#JetBlue as reasons for its financial woes. It has been noted that the airline has lost more than $2.5 billion since the start of 2020, and the amount for the debt payments over the next year is approaching $1 billion.

As the company works its way through a prearranged Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, it expects to continue to operate as usual. Customers can still book and fly with the airline without interruption.
