The Lakeland Hornets, who not many years ago, were the undisputed top Class B field hockey team in the state, will return to their first state final since winning their last of eight straight state titles in 2019.
Lakeland, led by stellar defense that only allowed one shot on its star keeper, Jenna Yazzetti, shut out Section 5's Pittsford Mendon 3-0 at Arlington High School Saturday, Nov. 16.
Lakeland advances to play Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 at Arlington in the Class B championship game.
