A late shot by Shaker ended the championship run for Scarsdale. Shaker's Owen Brant beat Scarsdale keeper Logan Lim straight up with under four minutes left in the second half to lift Section 2's Blue Bison to a 2-1 win in a Class AAA state semifinal on Saturday, Nov. 16. Scarsdale had won the last two Class AA state titles before being bumped up in enrollment this season. "It was a battle," Scarsdale senior Leo Khang said. "In the first half, we thought we had them. We were all over them. Second half, they drew back into the game. It was honestly such a good game. From a neutral perspective, it was probably so fun to watch. Both teams, so good. I feel like the team who won this game was mostly likely to win the state championship. It was honestly just a dogfight and they ended up getting that goal at the end to beat us."
