Excalibur staff member Sophie Lopez and fellow sophomores Naomi Gostlyo and Elizabeth Nation share a laugh at the literary magazine’s Hot Chocolate and Haiku sales table during lunch on Tuesday in the main hallway.
“Naomi was filling out a card for me, and she was describing me in a silly way,” Lopez said. ”Elizabeth and Naomi bought hot cocoas for everyone in our little friend group to make their day.”
Lopez was working the table with fellow Excalibur staff members and sophomores Juno Jasper and Jeremy Boulter.
For $3, students can purchase a hot cocoa and a personalized haiku for a friend, a teacher or even for themselves. The Excalibur staff will deliver the beverage and poem the week after Thanksgiving.
“It’s like the candy cane grams from ‘Mean Girls,’’ but without the mean part, Lopez joked.
The monies raised will help cover printing cost of this year’s mag and will also help buy items for the upcoming Coffehouse, the primary fundraiser and school event that Excalibur stages...
